Before we get there

Found mold? Do this, avoid that

1

Don’t scrub or bleach it

Scrubbing releases spores. On drywall and wood, bleach mostly adds moisture.

2

Keep fans off it

Moving air carries spores into the rest of the house.

3

Close the door and take a photo

From the doorway, without getting close. It helps us and your insurer.

4

Stop any active leak

If water is still coming in, shut it off. That’s the first thing we’d fix anyway.

5

Tell us if anyone feels unwell

Asthma, allergies or a weak immune system change how we set up the work.

6

Report a recent water loss

If it follows a burst pipe or leak, tell your insurer promptly. That keeps coverage open.

Where it hides

Where mold takes hold in Wasatch homes

Basements & crawl spaces

A high water table and cool, still air make them the number-one place we find mold.

Bathrooms & kitchens

Hidden supply-line drips and shower splash feed it inside walls and under cabinets.

Walls & windows

Flashing leaks and condensation on cold exterior walls feed the back of the drywall.

Water heaters & HVAC closets

Slow drips keep utility closets damp for months.

Under flooring

Cupped hardwood or a musty carpet pad usually means the subfloor stayed wet.

Attics & ceilings

Roof leaks and winter ice dams soak insulation, and mold grows where nobody looks.

The High-Water Line

How we remove it, and keep it gone

1

Inspect

Free. Moisture mapping, the source found, and a written estimate.

2

Contain

Plastic and negative air pressure so spores don’t travel.

3

Filter & remove

HEPA air scrubbing. Affected materials are removed and bagged.

4

Treat & verify

Antimicrobial treatment, then clearance testing before the plastic comes down.

5

Fix the source

The leak, grading or ventilation problem behind it, or it comes back.

Insurance

When mold is covered, we handle the claim

Coverage almost always comes down to cause and timing. Mold that follows a sudden water loss you reported promptly, like a burst pipe, is usually covered. Mold from slow leaks, everyday humidity or deferred maintenance usually isn’t. We tell you honestly where yours is likely to land.

On a covered claim

We document cause and timing, write the scope in Xactimate, and bill your insurer directly. Beyond your deductible, our goal is $0 from you.

Every carrier

State Farm · Allstate · Farmers · USAA · Bear River Mutual · Farm Bureau, and every other carrier. Billed directly, with adjuster cooperation from the first visit.

FAQ

Asked before the call, answered

Is the inspection really free?
Yes. We look at the growth, map the moisture behind it, find the source and give you a written estimate, with no charge and no obligation.
Do I need mold testing, or is that an upsell?
If the mold is visible and the cause is obvious, testing first only confirms what everyone can see. It’s worth it when growth is hidden or air quality is the question, and always at the end to prove the job is done. We’ll tell you which case you’re in.
Can I just bleach it?
A small patch on tile grout, yes. On drywall or wood, bleach leaves the roots and adds moisture, and scrubbing spreads spores. Anything bigger, have it looked at.
Is black mold an emergency?
Color doesn’t tell you the species. Any established growth deserves prompt, calm attention: leave it alone, keep the humidity down, and book an inspection this week.
How long does remediation take?
A contained single-room job usually takes 2 to 4 days, including clearance testing. Bigger jobs take longer.
