Thermal camera showing moisture in a wall during inspection
Thermal images and moisture readings go into the file on day one.

The first call opens the file. What you say shapes how the adjuster reads everything after it, so keep it factual and short.

What to say

  1. When and where The date you found it, and the rooms affected.
  2. What you saw Describe the source if you know it: a supply line, a water heater, a backed-up drain.
  3. What you’ve done You stopped the water and called a mitigation company. Your policy requires reasonable steps to prevent further damage.
  4. Ask for the claim number And the adjuster’s name and direct line.

What to hold back

  • Don’t guess how long it’s been leaking. “I found it today” is the fact you know.
  • Don’t estimate the cost. Let the documented scope do that.
We handle the paperwork Moisture maps, photos, and an Xactimate estimate go straight to your adjuster, and we bill your insurer directly.
