When you submit, our on-call team gets a text instantly. You'll get a confirmation text right away.

Got it. We’re calling you within 5 minutes.

Keep your phone nearby. If water is still spreading, shut off the main valve now, it’s usually in the basement or crawl space, on the street-facing wall.

While we’re on the way

The first 48 hours

1

Don’t wipe the soot

Wiping smears acidic residue deeper into paint and grain. Leave surfaces alone until they’re treated with the right method.

2

Don’t run the HVAC

The blower pulls soot and odor through every duct and room in the house. Keep the system off until it’s assessed.

3

Call your insurer, then us

Fire losses need same-day securing. We board up, tarp, and inventory the same visit, and document for the claim from hour one.

Unsure about any of these? Call (385) 354-5813 and we’ll walk you through it while the crew drives.

What’s included

From board-up to move-back-in

  • Emergency board-up, roof tarping, and site security, same day
  • Firefighting-water removal and structural drying (the water side is our core trade)
  • Soot and smoke-residue cleaning matched to each surface, see the table
  • Odor neutralization by the right tool: thermal fogging, ozone, or hydroxyl, named in the scope, not “deodorizing”
  • Contents inventory and pack-out to climate-controlled storage
  • Reconstruction under the same scope, one company to move-back-in

Wood & cabinetry
Residue works into grain and finish
Surface-appropriate cleaners, refinish assessment, odor sealing where needed
Metal & fixtures
Corrosion and pitting begin within hours
Early wipe-down with corrosion inhibitors, the most time-critical surface
Textiles & contents
Odor binds to fibers
Pack-out for specialty cleaning and ozone/hydroxyl treatment off-site
Large-loss documentation is the claim.
Fire claims are the biggest files most families ever open: structure, contents, and additional living expenses all at once. We inventory room by room, photograph before anything moves, and scope in Xactimate, and our fire coverage guide explains what your policy actually pays for.
Why fires start

Common causes of house fires in Utah

Most home fires trace back to a handful of everyday sources. Knowing them is half of preventing them, from Salt Lake City kitchens to Park City wood stoves.

Cooking & kitchen

Unattended stovetops and grease fires, the leading cause of home fires.

Heating equipment

Electrical faults

Aging wiring, overloaded circuits, and failed outlets behind the walls.

Dryer lint

A clogged dryer vent is one of the most common and most preventable ignitions.

One event, three losses

Fire, smoke, and water arrive together

A house fire is rarely just a fire. By the time it is out, most homes carry all three kinds of damage, which is why we handle them under one scope and one schedule instead of three separate contractors.

Loss 1

Fire & char

Flames consume structure and leave char that has to be removed and sealed, not painted over.

Structural rebuild →
Loss 2

Smoke & soot

Acidic residues travel the whole house, etch metal and glass, and set odors within days.

Smoke odor removal →
Loss 3

Water & sprinklers

The water that put the fire out soaks floors and walls, so we dry and document it as its own loss.

Every affected item logged for the contents side of the claim.

3

Scope in Xactimate

Structure, contents, and living expenses, in the format your adjuster uses.

4

5

You pay only your deductible

On a covered claim, that is your real out-of-pocket, and you know it up front.

Typically covered

Accidental fire and the smoke, soot, and firefighting water that come with it, plus additional living expenses while you are displaced. This is the core of a homeowner policy.

Watch the fine print

Code-upgrade costs without ordinance-or-law coverage, and losses tied to long vacancy, can be limited. We flag these early and document to protect the claim.

$0 out of pocket, beyond your deductible
On a covered fire claim, our goal is nothing from you past your deductible.
Every carrier, no network required
We work for you and with any insurer. Direct billing and Xactimate scopes on every claim.
Ask about living expenses
If you are displaced, your policy likely covers lodging and meals. We help you document ALE from day one.

FAQ

Questions we hear

Does homeowners insurance cover fire and smoke damage?
Fire is the peril homeowner insurance was built for: structure, contents, and living expenses while you are displaced. The real variables are documentation and depreciation, both covered in the fire coverage guide. We bill your carrier directly.
Can smoke and soot odor really be removed, or just masked?
Removed, if the residue is removed first, then the odor treated at the molecular level with thermal fog, ozone, or hydroxyl depending on occupancy and materials. Masking is what happens when steps get skipped. The method is in our smoke-odor removal guide.
How long does fire and smoke damage restoration take?
A single smoked room can be a few days. A moderate loss runs two to eight weeks. A major structural loss with rebuild runs months. You get a written timeline after the first walkthrough, not a guess.
Is soot dangerous, and can I clean it myself?
Soot is acidic and fine enough to inhale, and it smears deeper the moment you wipe it, so DIY cleaning usually makes a covered loss worse. Stay out of heavily sooted rooms, run nothing through the HVAC, and let us test and clean.
Does a fire cause water damage too?
Almost always. Sprinklers and fire-hose water soak the structure, so we dry and document the water loss right alongside the soot and smoke, see our water damage restoration for how that side runs.
Can smoke damage a home that never caught fire?
Yes. Smoke and soot travel through HVAC and settle far from the source, and Utah wildfire smoke can permeate a home from outside. We clean and deodorize both, with the same residue-first method.

Fire out, damage spreading?

Soot sets within days. Call now, we secure and stabilize the same day.
